Prof. Karen Waters is a clinician and researcher who specialises in sleep breathing disorders in children. She completed her PhD at the University of Sydney and founded the Sleep Unit at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Dr Waters is currently Head of the Sleep Medicine Service and the Long Term Ventilation Service at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. She has extensive experience in the use of nasal CPAP in infants and children.
Karen is involved in clinical work and in research. She has published over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles in her specialty. She leads a research team that is conducting ongoing research into the causes of sleep breathing disorders in children as well as the treatment outcomes for children with obstructive sleep apnoea.
